BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. Tajikistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Idibek Kalandar and Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed discussed bilateral cooperation in Baghdad on October 18, 2026.

According to the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC member states.

The sides reviewed prospects for further developing cooperation between Tajikistan and the organization and exchanged views on current international and regional issues.

Tajikistan participates in the OIC’s activities as part of its broader engagement with international and regional institutions. Cooperation within the organization provides opportunities to exchange views on shared priorities, strengthen diplomatic contacts and explore areas for joint initiatives.

The OIC brings together countries across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and other regions. Its agenda includes cooperation in economic and social development, education, science, culture and humanitarian affairs, alongside discussions on international and regional challenges.

Further engagement between Tajikistan and the organization could provide a framework for maintaining political dialogue and exploring opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
