Turkmenistan constructing iodine production enterprise

The construction of an enterprise for producing over 60 tons of iodine per year has started in Turkmenistan's Okarem region on the coast of the Caspian Sea, read a message from the country's Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry May 18.

The project is being implemented by the Senagatchilar consortium in accordance with the decree signed by Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Currently, the production facilities of the enterprise are under construction. The enterprise will use the method of iodine extraction from industrial waters used in the production of hydrocarbons.

The project has been worked out by the Iodobrom Scientific Production Association.
