TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 15. Uzbekistan's Thermal Power Plants JSC generated 17 billion kWh of electricity, which is 111.8 percent of the plan from January through June 2024, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan's Thermal Power Plants, funds in the amount of $257.8 million were implemented under the investment program.
Within the framework of investment projects, construction work is currently underway to build modern energy-efficient combined cycle gas turbines with a total capacity of 1,065 MW at the Talimarjan thermal power plant and 650 MW at the Navoi thermal power plant.
As a result of the full implementation of the planned repair work, the existing capacity of energy equipment will be increased to 281 MW, and the production capacity of boiler equipment will be increased to 150 tons per hour.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan produced 31.1 billion kWh of electricity from January through May 2024. The production volume has decreased by 1.2 percent compared to the same period last year (31.5 billion kWh in January–May 2023).
At the same time, in May 2024, the country’s electricity production declined to 3.2 billion kWh, compared to 7.9 billion kWh in April 2024.
