TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 12. In the scorching month of July 2024, a whopping 3,400 electric vehicles found new homes in Uzbekistan, leaving the streets buzzing with eco-friendly rides, and this impressive number soared 390 units higher than the previous month of June 2024, signaling a surge in the adoption of electric vehicles, Trend reports, citing the Center for Economic Research and Reform (CERR).

In chorus, when pitted against the same months in 2023, sales of electric vehicles shot up by 28 percent.

Second of all, during the month, sales in Uzbekistan's primary market for electric vehicles rose by 11.2 percent, while sales in the secondary sector jumped by more than 18.2 percent.

In annual terms, sales of pre-loved electric vehicles have shot through the roof.

Meanwhile, in the month of July 2024, a whopping 92,000 passenger cars were sold in Uzbekistan, which is a significant increase of 18.6 percent compared to the previous month of June 2024. The passenger car market took a nosedive, with sales plummeting by over 30 percent compared to the previous year.

Based on regional dynamics of passenger car sales, Namangan, Qashqadaryo, and Andijan areas showed the highest increases in July—52 percent, 36 percent, and 29 percent, respectively.
