Uzbekistan reveals magnitude of projects cooked up in its Karakalpakstan

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 19. Foreign investors and local entrepreneurs have come together to form a total of 124 projects in Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan, with a combined worth of $9.5 billion, Trend reports.

According to the Uzbek president's office, companies from such countries as China, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Russia and Spain are investing in the projects. The projects include energy, heating, mining, chemicals, construction materials, services, and other sectors.

In cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan plans to improve the centralized heat supply system in Nukus. At the same time, the country will build solar and wind power plants in the Karauziak district with the participation of Spanish investments, and implement projects on copper processing and cable production in Nukus with German investors.

More than 20,000 new jobs will be created when these projects are put into action.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan and Emirati Amea Power signed an agreement on the construction of a wind power plant with a total capacity of 1,000 MW in Karakalpakstan. The total cost of the project is $1.1 billion.

At the same time, Uzbekistan signed an agreement with Saudi ACWA Power for the construction of a 5,000 MW wind power plant in Karakalpakstan. The total cost of the project is $6.2 billion.
