TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 13. In 2024, Uzbekistan's Thermal Power Plants (state-owned company responsible for operating and managing the country's thermal power generation facilities) surpassed its energy production targets, achieving notable success across multiple operational metrics, the company told Trend.

The company produced 31.9 billion kWh of electricity, exceeding the planned 29.1 billion kWh by 10 percent, and delivered 11.1 million Gcal of thermal energy to the network.

While the fuel savings target was set at 700.5 million cubic meters of natural gas, actual savings reached 1 billion cubic meters, achieving 147.9 percent of the plan. Electricity savings amounted to 163.5 million kWh against the planned 117.8 million kWh, fulfilling 138.8 percent of the target.

Under the localization program, the company implemented 26 projects, producing goods worth 61.3 billion soums ($4.7 million), exceeding the target of 58.9 billion soums ($4.5 million) by 4 percent. Cooperative initiatives also exceeded expectations, with goods and services worth 209.4 billion soums ($16.1 million) procured, 104.7 percent of the planned figure. The localization and cooperation programs reduced imports by $21 million, surpassing the projected $20.1 million by 4.2 percent.

Furthermore, investment projects in 2024 were another area of achievement. The company implemented $646.14 million from various funding sources, exceeding the planned $616.94 million by 4.7 percent. Notable milestones included the commissioning of two 32 MW gas turbine units at the Tashkent TPP in May and the launch of a cogeneration project in Tashkent's Almazar district on December 13, focusing on energy efficiency in six neighborhoods.

Construction of advanced combined-cycle power plants is ongoing, with a total capacity of 1,065 MW at the Talimarjan TPP and 650 MW at the Navoi TPP.

Cost reduction remains a priority for the company. Measures taken in 2024 reduced production costs by 1.95 trillion soums ($150.2 million), significantly exceeding the planned 1.6 trillion soums ($123.2 million), achieving 118 percent of the target.
