TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 20. Uzbekistan is gearing up to roll out modern buses to give a much-needed boost to public transportation services in Almalyk, Termez, and Tashkent regions, Trend reports.
The news follows a virtual meeting between Uzbekistan's First Deputy Minister of Transport Mamanbiy Omarov with representatives of Zhongtong Bus Holdings Co., Ltd., CIB Bank, and the insurance company SINOSURE.
As part of the initiative, Olmaliq Trans Service plans to purchase 83 modern buses for Almalyk, while Termiztransportxizmat will acquire 100 buses for Termez. These efforts aim to enhance the quality of public transport services for local residents.
Additionally, proposals were made to simplify credit and leasing conditions for the procurement of modern buses in other regions of Uzbekistan.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and the Chinese Yutong Bus Company discussed a promising project to acquire 1,000 more buses for Tashkent.
The parties took stock of the situation regarding the project to snag 200 electric buses. They also discussed creating favorable conditions for private entrepreneurs to purchase electric buses, aiming to accelerate the transition to greener urban transport.
