TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 2. Uzbekistan's Thermal Power Plants continues to implement modern cogeneration technologies with Türkiye's Iltekno to improve the reliability and efficiency of heating and electricity supply in the capital, Trend reports.

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy informs that the main construction of a new cogeneration plant has been completed, and commissioning tests are currently underway in the Sergeli district of Tashkent.

The new facility will simultaneously generate 2.3 MW of electricity and 11 Gcal of thermal energy. As of now, 98 percent of construction and installation work has been completed.

The project utilizes high-efficiency equipment from Germany, including a gas piston unit and two Bosch boilers. This advanced technology will enable annual savings of approximately 220,000 cubic meters of natural gas and reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

Following start-up, the plant will produce 18.4 million kWh of electricity and 46,000 Gcal of thermal energy per year.

The new cogeneration facility will provide a reliable energy supply to 51 apartment buildings, a school, a preschool, a social facility, and several enterprises in the area.

According to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 23, dated January 20, 2023, Thermal Power Plants is implementing cogeneration technology projects in 11 mahallas located on the outskirts of Tashkent’s heating system. Similar plants have already been successfully launched in the Chilanzar and Almazar districts of the capital.
