BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. Uzbekistan and global commodities trader Traxys discussed expanding cooperation in critical minerals, advanced raw-material processing, and the production of higher-value industrial goods during a meeting between Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Traxys CEO Mark Kristoff in Samarkand on October 19.

This was reflected in the statement by the press service of the Uzbek president.

According to the information, the meeting focused on expanding the mutually beneficial partnership between Uzbekistan and the company, according to the Uzbek president’s press service.

The sides noted that cooperation had advanced over the past year, with contractual agreements signed and Traxys opening a regional office in Tashkent, its first in Central Asia.

Particular attention was paid to joint projects involving critical minerals, deeper processing of raw materials and the production of industrial goods with higher added value using U.S. technologies.

Traxys is a global physical commodities trader and merchant specializing in metals and natural resources. Its portfolio includes nonferrous metals, ferroalloys, industrial minerals, rare earths, battery-related critical minerals, and other raw materials used in manufacturing and energy-related industries.

In May 2026, Traxys officially opened its regional office in Tashkent, citing its commitment to Uzbekistan and the development of business opportunities across Central Asia. In June, the company also announced agreements with Uzbekistan’s Technological Metals Complex (TMK) to strengthen cooperation in critical minerals supply chains.
