BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10. A total of 407,000 tons of non-oil products worth about $531 million were imported to Sistan and Baluchestan Province located in southeastern Iran during 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024), curator of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province Mohammad Ali Khashi said, Trend reports.
According to him, compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through June 21, 2023), imports of non-oil products to Sistan and Baluchestan Province increased by 11 percent in value and decreased by 30 percent in weight terms.
Khashi stated that Sistan and Baluchestan Province mainly imported rice, wheat, fodder corn, sesame, live animals, meat, mangoes, dry tea, machinery spare parts, tires of passenger cars and heavy vehicles, etc.
The official noted that the products are imported from Pakistan, India, Russia, UAE, China, Brazil and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 9.4 million tons worth $14.3 billion during 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024). During the 3 months, imports of non-oil products increased by 1.4 percent in value and 7.8 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products manufactured in the country.
