Iran aims to promote mining sector in Zanjan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. It is planned that the mining sector in Iran's Zanjan Province, located in the west, will develop by 13 percent in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), the chairperson of the Industrial, Mining, and Trade Organization of Iran's Zanjan Province Majid Golshani told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, it is necessary to attract serious investments to develop the mining sector in the mentioned dimensions.

Majid Golshani noted that in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), a growth of 10.9 percent was registered in the mining sector in Zanjan Province. This was achieved through attracting investments of 4.7 trillion rials (about $11 million).

The official stated that although 460 mines currently exist in the Zanjan Province, minerals are extracted in 109 of them.

To note, Iran has about 12,000 mines. It is reported that Iran's mineral reserves are more than 50 billion tons. Production in Iran's mines averages more than 400 million tons per year.
