BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13. Production at Iran's Sepehr and Jofair fields has risen by 3,000 barrels per day, Trend reports.
Ahmad Mohammadi, a representative of Pasargad Energy Development, provided this information to journalists.
He explained that the increase in production is attributed to the commencement of operations at well No. 6 of the Jofair oil field. Mohammadi emphasized that this is the initial phase of production and that output from the well will stabilize in the coming days.
He further mentioned that production from well No. 6 at the Jofair oil field is anticipated to rise to 4,000 barrels per day after completing necessary repairs.
It is important to note that the Sepehr and Jofair fields are located in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran. These fields were officially commissioned on March 8, 2024. The Sepehr oil field contains 5.4 billion barrels of oil, with a potential extraction of 450 million barrels. The Jofair oil field has reserves of 4.4 billion barrels, with a potential production of 390 million barrels.
Currently, the Sepehr and Jofair fields produce a total of 43,000 barrels of crude oil daily, with expectations for this figure to increase to 55,000 barrels per day by the end of the year (March 20, 2025).
At present, Iran operates 74 oil and 22 gas fields. The National Iranian Southern Oil Regions Company oversees 37 oil fields, while the Iranian Central Oil Regions Company has 14. The Arvandan Oil and Gas Production Company manages 5 fields, and the Offshore Oil Company oversees 18.
Additionally, there are 5 gas fields in operation under the National Iranian Company "Southern Oil Zones," 13 under the "Central Oil Zones" company, 1 under the Pars Oil and Gas Company, and 3 under "Offshore Oil."
Iran's total hydrocarbon reserves amount to 1.2 trillion barrels. The country has the capability to extract 340 billion barrels of this gas using current technological resources. Currently, Iran utilizes about 30% of its reserves, leaving 70% still underground.
