Iran reports hike in fish and fishery product exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. Iran's ornamental fish exports increased by 91 percent in value and 21 percent in weight during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023), the chairman of Iran's fisheries organization Hossein Hosseini told local media, Trend reports.

According to him, 248 tons of ornamental fish worth $472,000 were exported from Iran during six months.

Hosseini added that 50,000 tons of marine fish worth $88.7 million were exported from Iran during the six months. This is 58 percent higher in terms of value and weight compared to the same period last year.

The official stated that 60,000 tons of fish feed worth $50 million were exported from Iran during six months. Exports of fish feeds increased by 69 percent in value and 70 percent in weight during the six months compared to the same period last year.

To note, Iran exported 70 million tons of non-oil products worth $25.8 billion during the six months. The export of products increased by 6.5 percent in value and 3.5 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
