BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 21. The production of pickup trucks in Iran increased by 4 percent during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023), the statement of Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Trade said, Trend reports.

Meanwhile, 78,884 pickup trucks were produced in Iran during the six months. However, 75,839 pickup trucks were produced in the country during the same period last year.

The production of pickup trucks in Iran during the sixth month of the current Iranian year (from August 22 through September 21, 2024) totaled 13,216 units.

This was down 4 percent compared to the same month of last year (from August 23 through September 22, 2023). During the same month last year, pickup truck production in the country stood at 13,795 units.

Moreover, about 606,000 different types of vehicles were produced in Iran during the six months. The production of different types of vehicles decreased by 5 percent compared to the same period of last year.

To note, in recent years, Iran has focused on domestic production of passenger vehicles rather than importing them. Therefore, it has imposed certain restrictions on the importation of passenger cars into the country. However, due to insufficient domestic production, low quality, and safety levels, the restrictions on importing passenger cars to the country have been softened to some extent.
