Iran's import volume of essential products via Bushehr ports increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 23. The volume of essential goods (rice, wheat, foodstuffs) imported through the ports of Bushehr province, located in southern Iran, during the nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024), saw a 70 percent increase compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), Director General of the Bushehr Ports and Maritime Organization, Mohammad Shakibinasab told reporters, Trend reports.

Shakibinasab reported that around 188,000 tons of essential goods were imported through the province's ports during the nine months. This includes around 109,000 tons of agricultural products, 32,000 tons of rice, 25.9 thousand tons of wheat, and 19,600 tons of food items.

The official also mentioned that the development of Bushehr's ports is expected to further boost cargo handling capabilities by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2025), leading to increased loading and unloading activities.

Bushehr Province has several major ports, such as Bushehr, Kharg, Genaveh, Dayyer, Asaluyeh, and others.
