BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 20. Iranian caviar exports amounted to 5 tons worth $3.2 million during the nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 2024), the official representative of Iran's fisheries organization Naser Karami Rad said, Trend reports.
According to him, Iran exported caviar to 28 countries during the nine months. It is estimated that about half of the exported caviar was exported by ordinary citizens.
Karami Rad added that caviar was mainly exported from the country to the UAE, Qatar, and Belgium.
He noted that Iranian caviar exports totaled 4.78 tons last Iranian year (from March 21 through March 19, 2024). The country produced 21.6 tons of caviar last year.
The official added that caviar in the country is mainly produced in the provinces of Gilan, Mazandaran, and Fars.
To note, over the next decade, Iran plans to produce 20,000 tons of sturgeon meat and 140 tons of caviar in the country.
