BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 9. The revenue from copper exports by Iran's National Copper Industry Company (NICICO) in the ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through January 19, 2025) increased by 11 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024), Trend reports via the NICICO.
The company earned $644 million from copper exports in the ten months period.
The company emphasized that this growth plays a crucial role in meeting the foreign currency needs of its development plans.
The NICICO also noted that a significant portion of the company’s copper exports in the previous Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) was calculated in Iran’s national currency, the rial.
Moreover, the NICICO produced 254,000 tons of crude copper in the first ten months of the current year, marking a 2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
To note, according to the National Iranian Copper Industries Company, copper reserves in the country amount to 19 billion tons. Sarcheshmeh and Sungun are considered the main copper mines in Iran.
