BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. About $300 million investment is expected to be allocated for the 2nd processing plant at the Mehdiabad Zinc and Lead Mine Complex in Yazd Province, central Iran, Omid Fallah, the director of the complex, told reporters, Trend reports.
Fallah noted that physical construction work on the second processing plant is currently ongoing, with about a quarter (24 percent) of the work already completed.
The official explained that the overall plan for the complex includes three processing plants, with a total investment of $1 billion. Once completed, the plants will produce around 800,000 tons of zinc concentrate and 80,000 tons of lead concentrate annually.
Currently, the 1st processing plant at the Mehdiabad complex is operational, having required an investment of nearly $300 million.
The Mehdiabad zinc-lead complex is operating under the management of IMIDRO. It is reported that this complex has 154 million tons of lead and zinc reserves and 124 million tons of barite reserves.
