BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. The volume of oil products transported through pipelines to various Iranian provinces is expected to increase by 5 to 7 percent in the coming Iranian year (from March 21, 2025, trough March 20, 2026), Ali Ahmadipour, the managing director of Iranian Oil Pipelines & Telecommunication Company (IOPTC), told reporters, Trend reports.
Ahmadipour mentioned that over 137 billion liters of oil products have been transported across the country through pipelines in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, trough March 20, 2025).
He also stated that 5 billion liters of oil products have been transported to the country’s thermal power plants, showing a 5.7 percent increase in the first eleven months of the year (from March 20, 2024, trough February 18, 2025) compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, Ahmadipour noted that by the first half of next year (from March 21, trough September 22, 2025), the inauguration of pipelines extending 1,000 kilometers will increase the total pipeline length in the country to 15,000 kilometers, further boosting the transportation of oil and oil products.
According to the company official, based on statistical data, around 5 million liters of oil products are lost annually due to various issues such as theft and smuggling. However, this loss is considered to be very small compared to the total volume of oil products transported.
Iranian Oil Pipelines and Telecommunication Company transports crude oil and petroleum products to the country's oil refineries and consumption points through more than 14,000 kilometers of pipelines in the country.
