BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9. Exports from Iran’s northeastern Razavi Khorasan Province through the Sarakhs railway to Turkmenistan increased by 6 percent in the past Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), Mustafa Nasiri Warag, the director general of Khorasan Razavi's railway operations, told reporters, Trend reports.
Warag articulated that the aggregate export volume via the
Sarakhs railway reached 1.1 million tons, further elucidating that
the comprehensive trade throughput, encompassing both export and
import activities, totaled 3.12 million tons. This figure signifies
a substantial 35 percent uptick relative to the preceding fiscal
year.
Furthermore, approximately 70,000 metric tons of commodities were
transacted through this logistical corridor from Turkmenistan.
Sarakhs County is strategically positioned at the geopolitical
nexus of Iran and Turkmenistan, facilitating multimodal logistics
through both terrestrial and rail infrastructure for efficient
cargo transit operations in this corridor.
