Iran sees growth in copper concentrate throughput

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14.​ Copper concentrate production by companies operating under the National Iranian Copper Industries Company rose by 8 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).

Data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) shows that the affiliated companies produced 1.36 million tons of copper concentrate, up from 1.26 million tons in the previous year.

Additionally, these companies produced 292,000 tons of copper cathode, reflecting a 1 percent increase compared to the 289,000 tons produced the year before.

Mining mineral extraction also saw growth, with a total of 298 million tons extracted in the last Iranian year, up by 8 percent from 275 million tons in the preceding period.

The data of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company shows that copper reserves in the country amount to 19 billion tons. Sarcheshmeh and Sungun are considered the main copper mines in Iran.
