BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. Financial resources totaling 420 trillion rials (about $760 million) have been allocated for the creation and development of industrial enterprises in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, located in the northwestern part of the country, the director general of the East Azerbaijan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Department, Sadiq Parnian, told reporters, Trend reports.
Parnian reported that 484 industrial facilities were either launched or expanded, providing employment for 16,000 people.
Parnian added that 233 new industrial enterprises were established in the past Iranian year, with approximately 221 trillion rials (about $399 million) allocated for their creation. These new industrial ventures provided employment for about 4,170 people.
The department official further noted that 251 existing industrial enterprises were developed during the same period, with 200 trillion rials (approximately $362 million) invested in their expansion. This led to the creation of 11,800 new jobs.
"Last year, licenses were issued for the establishment of 4,820 new industrial enterprises in the province. A total of 820 trillion rials (roughly $760 million) is projected to be spent on these projects, which will result in the creation of 132,000 job opportunities," he added.
To note, East Azerbaijan Province in Iran is home to 57 industrial parks, one free trade zone, and one special economic zone, all contributing to the region’s economic development.
