BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. Exports through Imam Khomeini International Airport, located in Tehran Province in northern Iran, reached a total value of $44 million in the first 2 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2025), Gholamhossein Nouhi, Director General of the Customs Administration at Imam Khomeini International Airport, told reporters, Trend reports.
Nouhi noted that during this period, the main exported goods via the airport were pharmaceutical products and saffron, primarily destined for the UAE and Iraq.
He also stated that 5,530 tons of goods worth $1.82 billion were imported through the airport over the same 2-month span.
The official added that the airport mainly facilitated the import of medical equipment valued at $344 million, mobile phones worth $152 million, and pharmaceutical products totaling $88 million. Additionally, the airport handled the import of essential goods, including raw materials for pharmaceutical production and gold bullion, valued at $454 million.
Iran’s Customs Administration data shows that the country exported 24.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $8.24 billion during the same period. Compared to the corresponding period last year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), the export value declined by 0.11 percent, while the volume increased by 4.4 percent.
In the same 2-month span, Iran's non-oil imports stood at 5.92 million tons worth $8.47 billion. This represents a 7.8 percent decrease in value and a 1.16 percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
