The Iranian administration owes about $3.75 billion to Tehran Municipality, Tehran Municipality Spokesman Reza Taqipour said.
He said however that the figure is not yet exact, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on November 26.
The debt is related to state-owned buildings renovation charges and public transportation development projects, he added.
USD exchange rate in Iran is currently about 32,600 rials.
