A high-ranking political and economic delegation from Germany is going to visit Tehran next week, Amir Hossein Zamaninia, deputy oil minister of Iran, said.
German Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel will lead the delegation, the official said.
Zamaninia added that the delegation are about 60 people and are making the visit on an official invitation from Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh, Shana news agency reported July 10.
He added that companies such as Siemens and the Linde Group would be members of the delegation.
Besides meeting Zanganeh, the German team will also meet Industry, Mine, and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Central Bank of Iran President Valiollah Seif, Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian, as well as members of the Iran Chamber of Commerce.
Sigmar is also scheduled to meet President Hassan Rouhani.
Germany is Iran's top partner in downstream industries, petrochemical equipment, power generation turbines, etc.
A German petrochemical company is taking measures to convey the technology to Iran while the sanctions on the Islamic Republic are still valid.
The experts from the Basell Polyolefine GmbH traveled to Iran and visited some petrochemical projects in Asaluyeh in June. They have also held several talks with Iranian petrochemical officials and plan to transfer the technology.
Several delegations from Europe and Asia have so far visited the country to study the potentials for investing in the country's market once sanctions on the country are lifted and more delegations are expected in the near future.
Iran and the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) are in talks to strike a deal over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
