By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran and Norway can cooperate on a wide range of economic areas.
Mohsen Jalalpour, chairman of Iran's chamber of commerce, made the statement in a meeting with a Norwegian trade delegation in Tehran Oct. 14.
Iran and Norway can cooperate in oil and gas, fishery, mining, transport, agriculture, environment, water and wastewater projects, Tasnim news agency quoted Jalalpour as saying.
The two countries have already cooperated in oil and shipping industries and can resume cooperation in these fields, he noted.
Iran welcomes the expansion of cooperation between private sectors, particularly, he added.
"Under the sanctions regime, Iran understood that an oil-based economy cannot be a robust economy. The low oil price shows that we should not rely on oil income. The Iranian economy's new approach is not based on oil and underground resources," Jalalpour said.
Norway was not among the top 50 trading partners of Iran in the past Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20. Iran exported $376,000 of goods to Norway and imported $152,000 of goods from the country in the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-July 22), according to the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture.
