Iran's steel output in the first two months of 2016 dropped by 1.8 percent, said the report from the World Steel Association April 11.
Iran's output this February stood at 1.36 million tons, a 3.4 decline from February 2015's 1.409 million tons, said the report.
The January production also fell by 4.8 percent compared to January 2015, the report said.
According to the report, Iran produced an average of 2.726 tons in January-February period.
The country's steel output throughout 2015 is estimated to have hit 16.11 million tons. This in its own turn shows a decline of 1.4 percent year on year.
Iranian Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mehdi Karbasian said March 15 that new steel producing units will be operational in the Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone during the first half of the fiscal Iranian fiscal year (which started March 20).
The South Kaveh Steel Company (SKS) with capacity of producing 1.6 million tons will be operational in spring, Karbasian said, adding Saba Steel plant with 1.2 million tons production capacity also will be inaugurated in the first half of the next fiscal year.
