The products of Azerbaijan-Iran car joint venture are projected to meet Euro 5 standards, which help to reduce the amount of air pollutants, Iran Khodro told Trend.
After meeting Euro 5 standards, the amount of nitrogen oxides emitted into the atmosphere as air pollution is expected to cut down to 0.06 gram per kilometers (g/k) from 0.08 g/k in Euro 4 standards, Sabina Nobari, the director of America, Asia, Europe and CIS region at IKCO, told Trend.
The Euro 5 standards for cars restrict emissions, from both petrol and diesel cars, of carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matters (PM), which are considered harmful to human health.
The car factory jointly founded by the two countries in Azerbaijan’s Neftchala industrial park is expected to produce its first cars as of late-May 2017.
Iran Khodro owns 25 percent of the shares of the joint venture and the rest belongs to the Azerbaijani side.
