Some 820,463 cars were produced in Iran in the first eight months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-Nov. 21, 2016).
The figure indicates a rise by 35.9 percent as compared to the same months of the preceding year, Tasnim news agency reported Nov. 29.
Sedans counted for 759,871 of the output with a production growth rate of 37.2 percent, while pick-up output grew by 23.5 percent to hit 52,129.
The country’s bus output increased by 25.5 percent to stand at 616 vehicles.
The Iranian car manufacturers also produced 494 minibuses (a 9.1-percent increase) and 7,353 trucks (a 4.5-percent increase) during the eight-month period.
The country’s car output stood at 129,031 during the eighth calendar month (Oct. 21-Nov. 21).
Over 121,272 sedans were produced during the one-month period, a 138.2-percent more year-on-year.
Also 6,972 pick-ups (a 76.1-percent rise), 657 trucks (a 3.4-percent fall), 97 buses (a 22.8-percent increase) and 33 minibuses (a 46.8-percent decrease) were produced during the eighth calendar month.
Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall year-on-year.
Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, while the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.
The Islamic Republic manufactured 884,866 sedans and 97,471 commercial vehicles in 2015.
The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
