Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration has imposed restrictions on importing iron scraps.
Under a new regulation, the customs administration has banned importing iron scraps from Afghanistan and Iraq, Ibena (Iranian banks and economy news agency) reported.
The report did not provide further details on the reasons for the ban.
Over the last fiscal year the two countries were among the main trade partners of Iran as Iraq imported $6.1 billion worth of goods from the Islamic Republic and Afghanistan’s imports from Iran valued at $2.4 billion.
Iran’s major state-run iron ore companies have produced about 32.59 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the last fiscal year (ended on March 20).
The figure indicates a 26-percent increase compared to the preceding year.
