The construction of four phases at Iran’s South Pars gas field has made 78 percent progress, National Iranian Oil Company website reported May 13.

The phases include 13, 22, 23, and 24, the source said, adding that the onshore refinery that is to receive feed from these phases has also made 88.5 percent progress.

Iran plans to complete the South Pars phases (except for Phase 11) in coming two years. Iran will increase gas output from South Pars to 630 mcmpd by next March.

South Pars is part of a huge offshore field, shared with Qatar in the Persian Gulf. The field is estimated to hold about 8 percent of the world’s natural gas reserves.

President Hassan Rouhani officially inaugurated 10 major oil, gas, and petrochemical projects worth $20 billion in South Pars April 16.
