An Irish firm will invest in construction of power plants in Iran, official IRNA news agency reported.
The Irish investor plans to build a 50-MW solar power plant in Western Hamedan province as well as central Qom province.
At least $70 million worth of investment is needed for establishing one 50-MW solar power plant, according to the report.
The Irish side will supply 25 percent of the needed assets, meanwhile Iran will provide the remaining share.
Iran’s electricity generation stood at 286 billion kilowatts hour (kWh) over the last fiscal year (ended March 20).
The country’s nominal power generation capacity stands at 76,000 MW.
Almost 62,000 MW of the country’s power output, is generated from thermal plants that burn fossil fuels. An estimated 12,000 MW comes from hydroelectric plants and 1,000 MW from the sole nuclear power plant in Bushehr.
According to latest published data, installed power generation capacity from all forms of renewable energies, including wind and solar, is 240 megawatts.
