Iran has exported more than 35 tons of truffles to Europe over the first quarter of the current fiscal year (starting March 20).
Qolamreza Taqavi, an official with the agriculture ministry, has said that per kilo of the local truffle known as Aestivum is traded at about $1300, IRNA news agency reported.
This is while, per kilo of the same product is sold at $20 in the domestic market.
Iran exported $2,274.1 million worth of agricultural and food products in the first half of the current fiscal year (started March 2017), 3 percent less year-on-year.
Iranian officials say that the share of Iran’s food and agriculture products in the country’s non-oil exports has been increasing during the current fiscal year (started March 2017).
The Islamic Republic’s food product exports were on the rise following the removal of the international sanctions in 2016. The Islamic Republic exported over 1.18 million tons of food products worth $2.7 billion during the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017), 8 percent more year-on-year in terms of value.
