The head of Sharifi Holding Company said the private sector of Russia plans to invest more than 3 billion euros in Iran’s wood products industry.
A wood manufacturing company will be launched at Amirabad Port in the northern Mazandaran Province within the next six months, Behrouz Sharifov told Trend on July 15.
The factory will be built with the help of the Russian private sector which will allocate more than 3 million euros to establish of the facility and expand the country's wood industry, he added.
Sharifov further said the factory plans to export its products to Kazakhstan and the Persian Gulf littoral states, using marine and rail routes.
“It will have seven production lines and will produce 12,000 cubic meters of (composite) woods every week”.
The woods of the factory will be supplied by the holding’s private woodland in Russia, Sharifov said.
He added that the ships will deliver the manufactured boards to Kazakhstan and they, on their way back to Iran, will import nuts from the Central Asian country to the Islamic Republic.
Amirabad is currently Iran’s largest port facility on the Caspian shore and the third largest port in the country. The 1,000-hectare port currently has nine berths, which can accommodate Ro-Ro vessels, trains and trucks.
