Iran’s South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) has injected over 39 billion cubic meters of sweetened gas into the national gas network in the first three months of the current fiscal year (March 20-June 21), Hadi Hashemzadeh Farhang, managing director of the SPGC said.
The figure indicates a rise by 16 percent compared to the 3-month period of the preceding year, Hashemzadeh Farhang said, National Iranian Gas Company reported.
He further said that the complex has also supplied 549 million cubic meters of natural gas feedstock to Pars Petrochemical plant in the period.
The official added that the South Pars Complex has injected some 4 billion cubic meters of sour gas to the 5th cross country gas trunkline (IGAT-V) in the first three months of the current fiscal year.
In the meantime, the complex produced 55.02 million barrels of gas condensate, 202,527 tons of granular sulfur, 792,356 tons of ethane, 519,467 tons of propane and 287,256 tons of butane, Hashemzadeh Farhang said.
He further noted that the SPGC’s output is equal to 70 percent of the country’s overall gas production, adding that the share will increase during the current year.
Production of gas from the giant gas hub currently stands at 555 million cubic meters per day.
The gas field, which Iran shared with Qatar in the Persian Gulf, is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world’s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
The field is divided into 24 standard phases of development in the first stage. Most of the phases are fully operational at the moment.
Completing development phases of South Pars is among the Oil Ministry’s priorities outlined by President Hassan Rouhani in a decree in mid-September, 2017.
