Iran is currently extracting close to 570 million cubic meters of gas per day from the giant South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf.
The launch of phases 12, 15, 16, 17, and 18 during President Rouhani’s two terms in office has helped boost gas production from South Pars, the report by IRNA news agency said on August 29.
The giant South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf is slated to increase production capacity, which has currently stabilized at a rate of 570 mcm/d, by the end of the current fiscal year (March 2019), with launch more phases, including 13, 14, and 22-24.
The gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.
It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belong to Iran.
It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
