The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament announced that the International Atomic Energy Agency has no more right to access Iran's nuclear site cameras.
The Member of Iranian Parliament Alireza Salimi reminded in a public session of Parliament today that the International Atomic Energy Agency had only three months to fulfill its obligations, which has been ended yesterday, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He went on to say that according to the law, all images and videos recorded by the cameras of Iran`s Atomic Energy Organization should be deleted.
“We expect the head of the Atomic Energy Organization to announce as soon as possible that the IAEA has run out of space and saved images and videos have been deleted,” said Salimi.
Addressing the Parliament`s Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Salimi asked to call the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran not to delay in implementing the Strategic Law on Lifting Sanctions.
Qalibaf affirmed that the Parliament is determined to implement the law of strategic action to lift sanctions.
He stated that the IAEA`s quarterly deadline was until May 22, according to which, the Agency does not have the right to access the images and information of Iran`s Atomic Energy Organization`s cameras.
On February 27, the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Aliakbar Salehi says recordings from monitoring equipment that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) installed at the country’s nuclear sites will be deleted if the United States does not lift its unilateral sanctions within the next three months.
The halt came under the Strategic Action Plan to Counter Sanctions, a law passed last December by the Iranian Parliament, and adds to Iran’s previous steps away from the 2015 nuclear deal in response to the U.S.’s unilateral withdrawal in 2018 and the other parties’ failure to fulfill their commitments.
In February, the IAEA and the AEOI reached a temporary bilateral technical understanding, under which the latter would continue to use cameras to record information at its nuclear sites for three months, but it would retain the information exclusively. If the U.S. sanctions are lifted completely within that period, Iran will provide the footage information to the UN nuclear watchdog, otherwise, it will be deleted forever.
