Iran's most expensive agricultural and food products revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. The price of canned fish rose by 112 percent, 70.9 percent mushrooms, 70.2 percent beef, 57 percent milk powder, and 56 percent mutton during 12 month of the last Iranian year (from February 20 to March 19, 2024) compared to the same month of the previous year (from February 21 through March 20, 2023), the data of Iran's Statistical Center said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, 180 grams of canned fish cost 828,000 rials (about $19.7), 1 kilogram of mushrooms cost 1.24 million rials (about $29.5), 1 kilogram of beef cost 5.38 million rials (about $128), and 450 grams of milk powder cost 325,000 rials (about $7.75). A kilogram of mutton cost 5.6 million rials (about $134) in the 12 month of the last Iranian year.

Statistics show that the price of 1 kg of trout rose 55.5 percent compared to the same month last year to 2.18 million rials (about $52).

Information shows that the price of 1 kg of raisins in the 12th month increased by 70 percent compared to the same month last year and amounted to 1.82 million rials (about $43.3).

Meanwhile, statistics show that 1 kg of sugar rose 47.4 percent to 382,000 rials (about $9.1), while 1.5 liters of soft carbonated drinks rose 48.6 percent to 283,000 rials (about $6.74).

However, according to statistics, all agricultural and food products except five commodities (Iranian rice, vegetable oil, pepper, potatoes, and onions) went up in price for the 12th month.

To note, Iran grows on average more than 130 million tons of agricultural products per year.
