BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Iran's total exports of iron and steel products abroad decreased by 14 percent in value and 13 percent in weight during the six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023).
The data obtained by Trend from Iran's Customs Administration shows that this figure amounted to 5.7 million tons worth $2.9 billion.
In the first half of the current Iranian year, the nation exported $730 million worth of iron and steel ingots, $571 million worth of rebar, $210 million worth of steel sheets, $151 million worth of prefabricated iron and steel products, and $143 million worth of pipes and profiles.
The total value of the five above-mentioned products was $1.8 billion.
To note, Iran's steel production potential is about 40 million tons per year. Iran plans to increase its steel production capacity to 55 million tons by 2025.
