BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 28. Iran's imports of non-oil products amounted to 27.9 million tons worth $50.9 billion during the nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Customs Administration Foroud Asghari told local media, Trend reports.

He indicated that Iran's procurement of non-oil commodities experienced a valuation uptick of 5 percent while concurrently witnessing a decrement of 3.16 percent in volumetric weight over a nine-month period relative to the previous year (spanning March 21 to December 21, 2023).

Asghari indicated that Iran's import portfolio predominantly comprised products from the UAE, totaling $15.3 billion, followed by China at $13 billion, Türkiye at $8.9 billion, Germany at $1.8 billion, Russia and India each at $1.1 billion, and Hong Kong at $1 billion during the specified timeframe. The specified nations constituted 83 percent of the value of product imports into Iran.

It is pertinent to highlight that Iran predominantly emphasizes the procurement of essential goods required for national needs while implementing specific regulatory constraints on the influx of domestically produced items.
