Iran raising funds to purchase Russian helicopters

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 28. Iran will need $5 billion to purchase Russian helicopters capable of night flights, Director of the Iranian Red Crescent Society's Rescue and Relief Organization Babak Mahmoudi told reporters, Trend reports.

He said that during the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Russia, the details of an agreement to purchase 20 helicopters, four of which are intended for firefighting in forests, were discussed.

Mahmoudi explained that along with the mentioned number of helicopters, spare parts worth nearly $500 million will also be purchased.

The official noted that speeding up the helicopter purchase process was at the top of the agenda during the visit.

To note, on January 17, Masoud Pezeshkian visited Russia. During the visit, a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement consisting of 47 points was signed between Iran and Russia.
