BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. The crude copper production by the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) rose by two percent during 10 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Deputy CEO of Development & Production at NICICO Kioumars Mobalegh Nasseri told reporters, Trend reports.
He said that the crude copper production amounted to 254,000 tons.
Nasseri also mentioned that the company produced 252 million tons of copper mineral in 10 months of the current year, marking growth by eight percent from the same period of last year.
Furthermore, the deputy CEO pointed out that in the reporting period NICICO produced more than 50 million tons of sulfur stone, up seven percent from the same period last Iranian year.
"During 10 months, the company produced 1.14 million tons of copper concentrate, which is four percent more than in the same period of last year," he explained.
Meanwhile, the production of copper cathode rose by two percent, reaching 243,000 tons, Nasseri also said.
He also informed that during the mentioned period, the company produced 10,100 tons of molybdenum concentrate, showing 20 percent increase.
The company official added that 744 tons of precious metal concentrate were produced by the company in 10 months.
To note, according to the National Iranian Copper Industries Company, copper reserves in the country amount to 19 billion tons. Sarcheshmeh and Sungun are considered the main copper mines in Iran.
