Iran developing gas field in its northeast

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31. Operations continue on the development of the Tus gas field in northeastern Iran, the CEO of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) Peyman Imani told reporters, Trend reports.

He said that so far, two wells have been drilled and completed in this gas field, and the drilling of the third well is currently underway, while the drilling of the fourth well is also expected to begin soon.

Imani added that the goal is to increase gas production in the country's northeast, aiming to produce two million cubic meters of gas per day from the field by the upcoming winter season, while in the next phase, production is expected to increase to three million cubic meters per day.

The company official also noted that the ultimate goal is to reach a daily production of five million cubic meters from the Tus gas field, which is expected to be achieved in the coming year (from March 21, 2026, through March 20, 2027).

"Discussions on the development of 16 gas fields in the area of the Central Oil Fields Company are underway with investors, and some of these discussions are in the final stages. Relevant information has been submitted to the management of Iran's National Oil Company," he pointed out.

As many as 84 oil and gas fields are under the management of ICOFC in 11 provinces of Iran. To date, 13 gas fields and 13 oil fields have been developed. The maximum production potential of ICOFC is about 250,000 barrels of crude oil and 250 million cubic meters of gas daily.
