The implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) relies heavily on the Islamic Republic of Iran's might in the future, Deputy Speaker of Iranian Parliament Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi Fard has said.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's insistence on using domestic capabilities to enhance the country's internal strength is that only under national strength can one make the West follow its commitments, the official told Trend Oct. 9.
"The only factor that made the US and its allies sit for talks and adopt modest positions respecting Iran was Iran's power; it was the power of the state, the Leader, and the negotiating team," he stressed.
Abutorabi Fard added that if the Iranian government volunteers to implement the nuclear deal it will be under the influence of Iran's power.
"I hope that the West realizes the truth of the region and the truth of the Islamic Republic so that it adopts wiser positions," he underlined.
The latest statements from Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei seem to put the Iran-US negotiations under question, according to the leader's official website.
Speaking at the meeting with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy commanders and staff and their families in Tehran Oct.7, the Leader said that the negotiations with the US "are banned, because they only impose losses to the country".
Khamenei's remarks on the negotiations with the US came out after the July 14 talks when Iran and the P5+1 group (US, Russia, China, France, UK, and Germany) announced a final accord, curbing Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of most international sanctions.
