BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 2. Iran's gasoline production is anticipated to rise by 1 million liters per day within the next month, while diesel production is expected to increase by 4 million liters per day, Iran's Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Mohammad Sadegh Azimifar said at an event held at Iran's Abadan Oil Refining Company, Trend reports.
Sadegh noted that the alkylation and hydrocracker units at the Abadan facility are scheduled to be operational within the next month, contributing to the growth of the country’s gasoline and diesel output.
He also highlighted that the development plan for the second plant of the Abadan Oil Refinery Company is currently a priority. Efforts are underway to secure financial resources for this development. If the plant is successfully expanded, it could add at least 10 million liters to Iran’s daily gasoline production.
The deputy minister emphasized that Iran is striving to reduce crude oil exports by increasing the production of refined petroleum products.
Currently, Iran operates 10 oil refineries that process crude oil and gas condensate, producing an average of 111 million liters of gasoline daily. Notably, over 70 percent of the gasoline and diesel produced in the country—75 million liters of gasoline and 70 million liters of diesel—meet Euro 4 and Euro 5 standards.
Iran aims to boost gasoline production to 129 million liters per day over the next 5 years (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2029).
