Georgia’s domestic production of electricity from January through November 2021 amounted to 11.4 billion kWh, of which 1.8 billion kWh accounted for thermal power plants, 9.4 billion kWh – for hydropower plants, and 78.4 million kWh – for wind power plants, Trend reports via Georgia's Electricity Market Operator (ESCO).
Meanwhile, Georgia’s electricity imports in the reporting period of 2021 amounted to 1.7 billion kWh. The main importers were Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Georgia purchased 1.1 billion kWh from Russia, 528.8 million kWh – from Azerbaijan, and 161.2 million kWh – from Turkey over the first 11 months of 2021, the report said.
Georgia’s exports of electricity from January through November 2021 amounted to 390.9 million kWh. The exports accounted for Turkey (220.5 million kWh), Armenia (145.8 million kWh), and Azerbaijan (24.6 million kWh).
Georgia’s total electricity transit over the reporting period of 2021 totaled 980.1 million kWh. Electricity transit from Azerbaijan to Turkey amounted to 517 million kWh, while the transit from Russia – to 321.8 million kWh.
Georgia’s transit of electricity from Russia to Armenia in the reporting period of 2021 amounted to 141.3 kWh.
