The liabilities of Georgia’s commercial banks in December 2021 totaled 52.8 billion Georgian lari ($17.1 billion), Trend reports via statistical data of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
The current figure increased by 1.7 percent, compared to $51.9 billion Georgian lari ($16.9 billion) in November 2021, and by 3.5 percent, compared to 51 billion Georgian lari ($16.6 billion) in December 2020.
Of the total liabilities of Georgian commercial banks in December 2021, the demand deposits amounted to 843.8 million Georgian lari ($274.8 million), which is a decrease of 13.4 percent, compared to 974.8 million Georgian lari ($317.5 million) in November 2021. However, the same figure increased by 5.8 percent, compared to 797.4 million Georgian lari ($259.7 million) in December 2020.
Meanwhile, non-bank deposits of Georgian commercial banks in December 2021 totaled 37.1 billion Georgian lari ($12 billion) – an increase of 7.2 percent, compared to 34.6 billion Georgian lari ($11.2 billion) over the same month of 2020, and by 3.9 percent, compared to 35.7 billion Georgian lari ($11.6 billion) in November 2021.
The accrued interest and dividends payable in December 2021 amounted to 272.3 million Georgian lari ($88.6 million) of the total liabilities, while borrowed funds totaled 10.9 billion Georgian lari ($3.5 billion), and other liabilities – 3.6 billion Georgian lari ($1.1 billion).
The total assets of Georgia’s commercial banks in December 2021 totaled 60.5 billion Georgian lari ($19.7 billion) – an increase of 6.5 percent, compared to 56.8 billion Georgian lari ($18.5 billion) over the same period of 2020, and 1.6 percent, compared to 59.5 billion Georgian lari ($19.3 billion) in November 2021.
