BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York has blocked the U.S. Department of State’s decision to suspend the issuance of immigrant visas to citizens of 75 countries. According to the court ruling, the restrictions violate the law and exceed the department’s authority.
In January, the U.S. Department of State suspended the issuance of immigrant visas to citizens of 75 countries.
The countries subject to the restrictions included Russia,
Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, Georgia, Egypt, Iran,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Syria, and Uzbekistan.
