At least five soldiers were killed in a suicide attack on an army check post in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Saturday night, said an Army statement.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the mouthpiece of Pakistan army, said in a brief statement that a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into an army check post in Miran Shah, capital town of North Waziristan, on Saturday night, Xinhua reported.

The check post was completely destroyed in the attack, said the statement, adding five troops were killed in the blast.

The statement failed to give further details.

Some local media reports said that the attack killed six people and wounded 18 others.
