Baku, Azerbaijan, March 1
By Orkhan Guluzade - Trend:
Turkey should take Saudi Arabia's warplanes, deployed to Incirlik military airbase, out of its territory, Dogu Perincek, head of Turkey's oppositional VATAN party, told Trend March 1.
Saudi warplanes were deployed to the airbase to take part in the international coalition's airstrikes against the "Islamic State" (IS, aka ISIS, Daesh) terrorist group.
The Incirlik airbase is located five miles north of the Turkish city of Adana near the Syrian border.
Perincek also noted that clashes have been going on in Syria for five years already, and regrettably a number of countries have also become a part of the conflict.
Further speaking about the crisis in Russia-Turkey relations, he said despite the claims about an inevitable military conflict between Moscow and Ankara, such a thing is not real.
"There are no serious reasons for that. Moreover, today, there are forces both in Turkey and Russia, which support normalization of relations," he added.
The relations between Russia and Turkey soured following the incident involving the downed Russian Su-24 bomber.
After the incident, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to take actions to ensure the national security and special economic measures against Turkey.
